Gwalior's Hidden Gem: Hotel O V Star - Unforgettable Luxury Awaits!
Gwalior's Hidden Gem? Let's Talk Hotel O V Star: Buckle Up, Buttercups! (My Humorous, Unfiltered Review)
Okay, so Gwalior. Let's be honest, it’s not exactly on everyone's bucket list, right? But hey, I like a bit of off the beaten path, and that's how I ended up at Hotel O V Star. And let me tell you, the experience was… well, it was something. Let's break it down, shall we? And yes, I'm going to get messy with this, because that's the only way to tell you the truth about this place.
Accessibility & The Whole Shebang:
First off, the basics. Accessibility seemed decent. They’ve got an elevator (praise the heavens, my knees aren't what they used to be!), which is vital. I'm not an expert on "official" accessibility standards, but it seemed like they'd tried to make things easier. The wheelchair-accessible aspect? Sorry, didn't personally check, but they claim it. You better ask before booking, though! This is Gwalior, after all.
Internet, the Modern Deity: Okay, internet access is essential. You need to stay connected, am I right? And good news, the Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! is a definite perk. It worked pretty well (most of the time – you know how Wi-Fi can be). They even had Internet [LAN] if you're old-school. Internet services in general seemed fine. You could get some work done, which is always a plus (though, who really wants to work on vacation?). Wi-Fi in public areas was also available, which is standard.
Cleanliness & Safety: Did They Actually Try?
This is where O V Star actually surprised me. The Cleanliness and safety procedures were thorough! I'm usually skeptical, I'll be honest, but they really seemed to be trying. Anti-viral cleaning products were in use. They were actually using Professional-grade sanitizing services which is comforting. You could even Room sanitization opt-out available, which is smart. Rooms sanitized between stays – check. Daily disinfection in common areas – also check. Sanitized kitchen and tableware items, Safe dining setup – these are all great, especially these days. Plus, Staff trained in safety protocol, which is a relief. They even had a First aid kit which is always a good idea. Hand sanitizer was everywhere. They seem to be taking things seriously, which made me feel a lot better. They had Fire extinguisher, Smoke alarms and Security [24-hour] so you should be pretty safe. There was a Doctor/nurse on call, just in case.
Dining, Drinking, and Snacking: Hunger Games?
Okay, the food. This is where things become… interesting. There's a restaurant, obviously. And a Coffee shop, a Snack bar and a Poolside bar. Plenty of Restaurants to pick from! The Breakfast [buffet] was… well, it was a buffet. Lots of stuff. I'm not always a buffet fan, but you could get what you needed to kickstart your day. They offered a Western breakfast and an Asian breakfast, so there's variety which is important. I got a Bottle of water which is super-handy. They have A la carte in restaurant, and they had Asian cuisine in restaurant which was nice. The Soup in restaurant was pretty good! I also tried the Desserts in restaurant. I’d say try ‘em, see how you feel! Room service [24-hour] is always clutch. Happy hour? Now we're talking!
My Buffet Experience, Because Why Not:
I'll tell you a quick buffet story. I went in, looking for… something. I was, let's be honest, starving. The buffet had it all. But the chaos! People jostling, the serving spoons getting swapped around… It was a bit much. I saw this older gentleman, bless him, trying to carve some fruit with his spoon while the buffet was a mayhem, then the entire thing just fell over. A total fruit massacre! (Okay, I am exaggerating a little – but it felt that dramatic at the time!). It was hilarious and stressful all at once. But that's part of the buffet experience, isn't it? You go to war with your appetite.
Dining, Drinking and Snacking (Continued):
They also have Vegetarian restaurant. The food was really pretty good, I tried a bit of everything, but mainly stuck to the International cuisine in restaurant and Western cuisine in restaurant. The Coffee/tea in restaurant was decent, and they had Coffee/tea maker in the rooms!
Things To Do & Ways to Relax: The Spa, the Pool, the… Gym?
Alright, relaxation. You can get a Massage, of course. And they have a Spa and Spa/sauna, and a Steamroom, and a Sauna. A Pool with view – yes, please! The Swimming pool, and Swimming pool [outdoor] were great, it was hot, and it's Gwalior! Foot bath seems… interesting. I didn't try it.
Okay, let's talk fitness. They have a Fitness center, or a Gym/fitness. I saw the gym. It was a gym. Enough said. I'll say Bike parking can be a good thing.
Services and Conveniences: The Good, the Bad, and the "Huh?"
The Services and conveniences are a mixed bag. Air conditioning in public area – check. Audio-visual equipment for special events – if you're into that, go for it. Business facilities are decent. Cash withdrawal is handy. They have a Concierge. Contactless check-in/out is a plus. They have a Convenience store which is always useful. They had a Currency exchange, which came as a lifesaver for me. Daily housekeeping, obviously. Doorman to greet you. Dry cleaning, Elevator, etc. Facilities for disabled guests – again, ask before you book if you're specifically needing those. Food delivery. Gift/souvenir shop had a lot of weird stuff! Invoice provided. Ironing service, Laundry service, Luggage storage. Meeting/banquet facilities. Meetings are available, they had Meeting stationery, they do On-site event hosting and Outdoor venue for special events. They had a Projector/LED display. They have a Safety deposit boxes, and they do Seminars which I found hilarious, but cool! Shrine. They have a Terrace which is nice. They offer Xerox/fax in business center, perfect for your documents.
For the Kids: Family Fun?
They are also Family/child friendly, with Kids facilities and Kids meal, if you're travelling with your little ones. They even have a Babysitting service, which can be handy.
The Rooms: Cozy or Claustrophobic?
Now, the Rooms! This is what it all comes down to, right? The ones I saw were… okay. Perfectly functional. You get the basics: Air conditioning, Air conditioning in public area which is key in Gwalior heat, a Alarm clock, Bathrobes, Bathtub, Blackout curtains, Closet, Coffee/tea maker, Complimentary tea, Daily housekeeping, Desk, Extra long bed, Free bottled water, a Hair dryer, In-room safe box, Internet access – LAN, Internet access – wireless, Ironing facilities, a Laptop workspace, Linens, a Mini bar, a Mirror, On-demand movies, a Private bathroom, a Reading light, a Refrigerator, a Safety/security feature, Satellite/cable channels, Seating area, Separate shower/bathtub, Shower, Slippers, Smoke detector, Socket near the bed, a Sofa, Soundproofing, a Telephone, Toiletries, Towels, an Umbrella, a Wake-up service, and Wi-Fi [free] – pretty standard. The Additional toilet was a nice-to-have. The Carpeting wasn't my favorite (a bit old-fashioned), but it was clean. The Window that opens was a relief – fresh air is a luxury these days. The Non-smoking, made it nice and clean.
Getting Around: Airport, Cars, and Chaos
They offer Airport transfer, which is incredibly useful. They had Bicycle parking if you're feeling ambitious. Car park [free of charge] and Car park [on-site] is great, and Car power charging station. The Taxi service. There's

Okay, buckle up, buttercups! Here's my frankly chaotic, probably-not-very-useful, but definitely real (and hopefully entertaining) itinerary for a stay at Hotel O V Star in Gwalior, India. Consider this less a schedule, more a fragmented diary of my impending hotel-based shenanigans.
Day 1: Arrival of the Slightly Shell-Shocked Tourist
14:00 - 15:00: Aeroplane and taxi to the hotel - The arrival
- Okay, so the flight was fine, but the taxi driver? Bless his soul, he navigated Gwalior like a caffeinated squirrel on a sugar rush. We're talking near-misses with stray cows (yes, really), honking symphonies, and a general sense of, "Is this it? Am I REALLY here?" Finally, we arrived at O V Star. The exterior… well, let's just say it wasn't quite the Taj Mahal. More like a sturdy, blocky building that knew it had a job to do: house weary travelers.
- Anecdote: The luggage? Got lost in the trunk. The driver eventually found it after I convinced him to look in the car with the help of all my broken Hindi. This is the beginning of my new journey to India.
- Emotional Reaction: Mild panic followed by a surge of "this is it!" excitement. I'm alone, I'm in India, and honestly, I'm thrilled and terrified.
15:00 - 16:00: Check-in, Room Revelations, and Bathroom Anxiety
- Check-in was blessedly smooth. Receptionist had a lovely smile, which immediately calmed the frantic buzz in my head.
- The room? Alright, yeah. It's functional. Clean enough. The air conditioning is already my best friend. But the bathroom… the bathroom, people, is the defining characteristic. No judgment but, a few moments in, I'm already questioning the wisdom of my pre-trip coffee consumption. Will the plumbing hold? Only time (and a lot of crossed fingers) will tell.
- Quirky Observation: The TV offers channels I could never dream of, and the remote looks like it requires a degree in nuclear physics to operate. Wish me luck.
16:00 - 17:00: Exploring the hotel!
- Let's see what the hotel has to offer. First stop, The restaurant!
- Opinionated Language: The food seems… okayish, not amazing. But the staff is friendly, that's a big win.
17:00 - 18:00: A Bit of Planning and a Whole Lot of Procrastination
Okay, I should probably research what to do in Gwalior. I mean, I did come here to see things, right? But right now, I'm lying on the bed staring at the fan, enjoying the AC and playing with the remote:
Stream-of-Consciousness: Okay, Gwalior Fort… looks impressive. The Man Singh Palace… wow, the architecture. But also, what if I just… napped? Maybe order room service? Maybe order a different lunch than what I asked? I'm so tired and I keep thinking of all the things I need to do. I'm still tired, so I will go to sleep right now.
19:00 - 20:00: Dinner! - A Messy Affair
- Tried the hotel restaurant again. I am so hungry and I don't know what I want.
- Anecdote: Okay, so I was trying to be adventurous and then I ordered something spicy… it was so spicy I had to get another meal.
- Emotional Reaction: Initially, excitement. Then a gradual build-up of sweat. Then, mild panic. The waiter was incredibly helpful, though.
- My Opinions: The service was great but the food was just okay.
Day 2: Forts, Feelings, and Plumbing Prayers
- 08:00 - 09:00: Breakfast and the Bathroom Gods (Again)
- Breakfast was "continental," which means a lot of toast and questionable eggs. And the bathroom… well, let's just say the plumbing is holding. For now.
- Stronger Emotional Reaction: Pure, unadulterated relief about the plumbing. Seriously, it's a daily drama.
- 09:00 - 13:00: Gwalior Fort – Battling the Heat (and My Own Self)
- Okay, finally, the fort! This is what I came for. The climb up was LONG, hot, and a bit of a slog. I'm pretty sure I saw my life flash before my eyes.
- The fort itself? Breathtaking. The architecture is incredible. And the views… oh, the views. It's majestic, and full of stories.
- Doubling Down on an Experience: I spent what felt like hours wandering through the Man Singh Palace. The carvings, the colors, the sheer history… it's overwhelming. I kept imagining the people who lived here, the music, the laughter, the drama. I might have even shed a tear from so much beauty.
- 13:00 - 14:00: Lunch and a Moment of Realization
- Found a little place near the fort for lunch. Thali! Delicious. This is the real India, not the toast I had for breakfast.
- And it hits me: I'm actually doing this. I'm in India. I'm exploring. I'm surviving (so far).
- Emotional Reaction: A wave of profound gratitude washes over me. Simple, but profound.
- 14:00 - 16:00: Hotel Rest - The best of times
- Back to the hotel. The AC is on full blast. I nap. I need it. This heat is brutal.
- 16:00 - 18:00: Exploring the hotel!
- Let's see what the hotel has to offer. Second stop, The bar.
- Opinionated Language: The food seems… better than last night. But the staff is friendly, that's a big win. The drinks are on the expensive side though.
- Anecdote: There was this guy playing a guitar. He was no professional by any means, but he was so good.
- 19:00 - 20:00: Dinner!
Day 3: Departure (and Bathroom Verdict)
- 08:00 - 09:00: Breakfast and the Bathroom Gods (The Final Judgment)
- Breakfast… toast. The bathroom… survived! We made it. Victory!
- 09:00 - 11:00: Last Minute Souvenir Hunt and Packing Panic
- Quick dash to the market for souvenirs. Then, the dreaded packing ordeal. Did I buy too much? Am I forgetting something?
- Messy Structure and Occasional Rambles: Okay, so I really should have brought more of those anti-diarrheal pills. And next time, I'm definitely packing my own snacks. What time is the flight again? Did I leave the charger at the hotel? Who remembers the airport taxi numbers?
- 11:00 - 12:00: Check-out and Farewell to O V Star
- Check-out: Smooth. The receptionist smiled. I smiled back, a weary traveler now transformed into a slightly more experienced (and slightly less terrified) one.
- Farewell: Goodbye, O V Star. You were… an experience. You housed me and you helped me and you were a place I could call home. I learned a lot from you and learned a lot from here in Gwalior.
- 12:00 onwards: Taxi to the Airport and Home
And that, my friends, is the end of my Gwalior adventure! I hope it gave you a chuckle, maybe a bit of vicarious travel anxiety, and a slightly better understanding of what it's like to be a human wanderer in a new place. Now, wish me luck on the flight home… and pray the plane bathroom is up to the challenge!
